If you are an Amazon Prime user, you are probably aware that you have an extensive library of movies and series, but what to do if you do not have a good internet connection? Regardless of the reason, you may want to learn how to download movies from Amazon Prime, to enjoy the content you want regardless of the quality of your connection.
Step 1: Install the Prime Video app and log in
First off, you'll need an Amazon Prime subscription, and on the other hand, you can only download movies through the Prime Video App, which means you'll need a compatible Fire, Android, or iOS device. Once installed, launch the app and log in to your Amazon account.
Step 2: Select a video
Then select a movie or show you want to download and open the video details. Please note that not all videos are available for download, and that you can only download content if you are in certain areas (United States, for example). Once you've chosen a movie or show, tap the Download button: For shows, you can also download individual episodes.
Step 3: Choose where to save the file
If you have an SD card in your phone, you will be asked to decide if you want to download the video or use the internal storage of your mobile. Please note that video files can be quite large, so downloading to an SD card is recommended if possible. SanDisk just released one with a terabyte of capacity, that's a lot of entertainment.
Step 4: Choose the video quality
Then choose the desired video quality. The higher the quality, the larger the file size.
Step 5: Browse your downloads
To explore the movies and shows you've previously downloaded, navigate to the Downloads panel , which is located in the upper left corner of Android devices, and in the bottom menu of iOS devices.
From here, you can browse, start or delete content. Although the Prime Video app is only available for mobile devices (tablets and mobiles), you can enjoy the downloaded content on a larger screen. I will explain how:
Step 1: Press View on
Select the video you want to watch, then tap the More button then select View In.
Step 2: choose a location
The app will then check the devices it can stream the video to, such as a Fire TV Stick.
How much space do i need?
The storage required for a file depends on the quality: We downloaded the Annihilation movie in the best quality setting and it took up 1GB of storage, while in Good Quality (the second lowest) it was only 308MB. Season 1 of The Wire, 13 episodes in total, consumed 3.5 GB when downloaded in Good Quality.
What can I download?
Amazon states that only selected titles are available for download. In our browsing time on Prime Video selections, all of the titles available to Prime subscribers we saw were downloadable. Users can trust that Amazon originals will be available for download, apparently. Generally, users can only download videos while they are in the United States and Spain, although once you have downloaded them, you can watch them while you are abroad.
